OK, the GOP won.

Yes, I am as disappointed as my other liberal brethren, but look at it this way. Massachusetts is one of the most liberal states in the country, and also happen to be the only state in the country with universal healthcare. For a GOP senator to be elected, they’ve got to be pretty left-leaning to even be considered a threat for the seat. Massachusetts has had Republican governors from 1991-2007, and that universal healthcare bill? That was passed in 2006.

This is not the death knell that Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and every other bigoted Republican figurehead is trying to lead us to believe. While I still sing the praises of Obama (and always will), I believe this was needed in order for the leaders of the Democratic party to realize what they are squandering away.
