My family.

My great-great grandfather and uncle immigrated here from Loreto Aprutino, Italy, in the Abruzzo region of Italy, arriving in Staten Island on February 27, 1909. He returned to Italy in 1911, to marry my great-great grandmother, Maria. WWI put a damper on my ggg’s attempt to return to the US until 1921, when he finally began the process of applying for citizenship. His first job was as a firefighter in the small town of Great Valley, New York, about an hour away from Buffalo.
